Lenten Programs: Every Wednesday during Lent

Rev. David Jewel, KPC’s Pastor Emeritus, has planned an exciting look at the Apostle Paul’s understanding of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. We will make use of “Walking the Way of the Cross with Paul” by Brian Rensberger, published by the Thoughtful Christian. Each lesson stands alone, for those who are unable to attend all five weeks.

Studying Paul’s letters to the early Christian Church may help us understand what the Cross meant to Paul. But more importantly, it can help us reflect on what the Cross mean to us.

  • February 25: Who was Paul? Historical context from Acts 7-9. What happened on the cross? Paul’s understanding of the Crucifixion from Galatians 6 and 2 Corinthians 5.
  • March 3: The context of the Cross if first century Palestine. A Crucified Messiah, 1 Corinthians 1:28-31
  • March 10: Was God on the Cross? The Cross as a Pivot Point, Philippians 2
  • March 17: Being Crucified with Christ, Galatians 2; 11-21 and Galatians 5. Dying to the World and Being Born in Christ
  • March 25: Power Perfected in Weakness: Romans 12, 13, and 14. Can the Cross be understood as a Creative Act?

We will gather for a meal at 6:15, eat at 6:30 and begin the program at 7 pm. Sign up sheets will be available to each week, in the Fireplace Room. For more information please email the church at Kenilworthpc@gmail.com.
