Bright Sunday, or Holy Humor Sunday, began with congregational kazoo instrumental accompaniment of Joyful, Joyful, We Adore You followed by the message in the form of a skit, “Ruth and Naomi Come to Portland.” The congregation joined in singing “I Will Follow God” during the curtain call. The Golden Kazoo Award was given to Willa, who played Ruth. Jokes fit to be told in church and humor from the Organ Bench Dock added to the smiles.
