What’s that thing hanging on the back wall of the sanctuary?

It’s a PTZ camera, purchased with a grant from the technology fund of the Communication and Technology Team of the Presbytery. This is the first of a number of planned upgrades and improvements to Kenilworth’s sound and visual technology.

A PTZ (pan/tilt/zoom) camera allows the camera to be moved by remote control or to preset positions quickly and smoothly from a remote location. The controller has a view screen, joystick, and a number of buttons to set and control the camera from anywhere the network cord will reach. It offers the latest in ideo streaming technology including high quality 1080P resolution with a 30x optical zoom. This means we can have a wide view of the sanctuary with tight close-ups of speakers at the pulpit.

If you would like to know about how the camera works, see Jonathan following a worship service.
