Join the Walk to End Child Homelessness: October 31

Race to End KPC will be fielding a team to walk or race to end child homelessness on Saturday, October 31. Please contact the church to let us know you will walk with us. Financial support is also appreciated.

New City Initiative is organizing this event to create awareness around the crisis of child homelessness in our region, and to raise funds to help end this terrible problem in our community. On any given night in Multnomah County, 2,225 children experience homelessness either on the streets, in shelter, doubled up with family or friends, at a transitional housing facility or in an apartment paid for by rent assistance. These children face greater barriers and obstacles in their education, employment and relationships. On October 31, we will be running and walking to end the cycle of homelessness for these children and their families.

There will be a 5K run and a family-friendly .8 mile walk at Mt. Tabor Park. The walk will consist of 2,225 steps, one step for every child experiencing homelessness in our county. Sign-in for the event will open at 8:30 AM at the pavilion in “picnic area A” (view site map).  Parking for the event is located at the amphitheater near picnic area A.  The agenda is as follows:
